KIDSART 2003
Curated by Meridith McNeal
June 5 through June 21, 2003
KidsArt 2003
Throughout the season exhibitions at the Rotunda Gallery serve as an inspiration for the discussion and hands-on art projects for children from kindergarten through high school. KidsArt is a survey of the exhibition season as seen through the eyes of New York City’s children and includes examples of artwork from all of the Rotunda’s education programs: class visits, museum outreach programs, after school programs and professional development workshops for teachers and administrators. Artworks range from mobiles to sculptural installations, ink drawings to wall murals, masks to life-sized portraits, created by students of all ages in schools from Bushwick to Coney Island.
KidsDay 2003
The exhibition opened on June 5 with KidsDay, a full day of free workshops, tours and performances in the gallery and throughout Brooklyn Heights. This annual event is co-presented by the Rotunda Gallery, the Brooklyn Heights Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, the New York Transit Museum and the Brooklyn Historical Society. On KidsDay families came to the Rotunda Gallery and took part in exciting artmaking projects based on the theme of "Big and Little", and visit other spots around the neighborhood for a wide range of fun activities.
KidsArt and KidsDay were sponsored by ConEdison.
